You might consider self-publishing and speaking gigs. I know some of my friends made a living doing that because there was more money in the speaking engagements about the books.

What is your writing major? I wish you the best, too! My major is Romance Writing. This is my first day of the course; I have written nonfiction in the past, but I'm really very excited about writing romance as a second career in middle age.
