Hiring Assistants for Day Of Coordination
Hiring Assistants for Day Of Coordination
Has anyone here hired assistants for "day of" coordination - people to help with setups, throughout the wedding/event, and the tear-downs? I'm looking to hire a couple of assistants for a wedding I'm doing in September, and am looking for some really great interview questions. Thanks!

I've been thinking the same thing... another question I have, what is a good amount to pay them? how much should I charge my clients for having extra staff on hand?
Sorry I'm no help, haha... But maybe you'll be glad to know it's a question for someone else too! haha

I have. I use High School Juniors and Seniors that I know. I ask them to wear black bottoms and a white button down shirt. Depending on how many I need, how long I need them for. Nice thing about HS Juniors and Seniors they want the money and will do what they need the way you ask for it and they will work hard for their money.

I usually have a standard crew that I hire for setup and cleanup, which I have built into the pricing. I pay them $10/hour. Most of them college aged or family friends that offer to assist.

Re: Hiring Assistants for Day Of Coordination
I have seen several small business post ads for a day coordinator at $10 an hour. I think that is quite low considering all the work/standing the coordinator has to do. But yes it seems $10 is the going rate here in Atlanta. I would say putting up an ad online would give you the best candidate. And, I typically don't hire friends because there is too much at stake and I don't want to risk the friendship. Best of Luck!

Hi Designsbymarie,
Do not allow Atlanta to take advantage of you. If they are not paying $160 -240 a day walk away. The planner I used to shadow had the nerves to offer me $40 for a full day. Absolutely not. Much success in your endeavors.
