I have been asked by a close friend rather last minute to run her mother's surprise 50th birthday party. I will basically be at the venue for about 10 hours ensuring everything is set up correctly and that the evening runs smoothly. She is aware that I am doing this course and thought it would be a good idea to ask me in order for me to gain some experience. She has said she would like to pay me a flat fee for my time (as opposed to an hourly rate) and to give her a cost. Can anyone give me some advice on what kind of figure to be aiming for? She is a very good friend so don't want to appear too expensive but similarly I don't want to sell myself short.
