Hmm I recently started using polyvore..i love it ! but unfortunately i have skunk eyes from staying on it too long.. and I absolutely love CANVA, it is much easier, less graphics but its really good. These are my recommendations. I have been fiddling with polyvore to create an inspiration board,..three days straight..decided to take a break today.

Also, to make collages - picmonkey is good :)

good luck to you ..,my hardest part is finding a palette i like because i have so many ideas..but i dont know how to place them..sigh lol let me know if this helps..do you use pinterest? its really good for inspiration.

Thanks for the advice i thought polyvore is just clothes more for style and fashion not decor. I use pintrest all the time. I need a idea of what i am ment to be doing to be able to do it right. It's b2 i am on with the colour complimentary questions it totally stumped me. Also just realised one of my books is missing from the event and wedding unit A.

Well to be fair i thought the same but then i started fiddling around with it and there are household items, plates, center pieces things that you can possibly incorporate to an inspiration board along with a wedding dress etc.you can also put in your color palette..if you type in your desired color name it comes up...you can also download this app for google chrome that allows you to import pics from pinterest! hope this helps

I was stuck on colors for the longest while...I skipped ahead to themes to see if i can open my mind a bit and it has... you're not alone ;) id suggest contacting student support for that..hope you get it :)

Hey everyone,

I've just enrolled in Event Decor :)

I've already done the Wedding Planning course but this one looks more complex and the assignments have a lot more involved.

Wish me luck!

How is event decor? I am currently in Event Planning School and want to do event decor next. I think it could really make us more marketable. What do you like about the program and are you learning about design?

Hey Katie & Guisha !

Event Decor would definitely make your services more marketable. I've learn't quite a lot, I am almost finished. It Gives you a lot more insight about how everything works and that it is not just about making things pretty, but making everything compliment each other from top to bottom.

I personally love it, the unit B was a bit trickier, especially because in this course you really have to use your imagination and design skills :) i.e. polyvore, pixlr. It did my head in a little bit at one point because everything that I wanted to include was not always available to express my decor/design.

i'd love to chat with you guys, its always a pleasure sharing insights :)

My polyvore ID is

and you guys can message me through the QC message in-boxing. vice versa :D

Are any of you a part of an event group forum? I've been looking to join one, but haven't found any.

Event Decor, Unit B, Assignment 2 Questions

Unread postby TsPooh » November 20th, 2016, 9:33 pm

I am also just starting on Event Décor. Just finished Event & Wedding Planning -- just waiting for final grade and certificate. I have never used Polyvore before and it's confusing to me. I don't know how to create an inspiration board, and if I do create one, how do I copy it into the assignment. I was just trying it -- I didn't sign up for Polyvore though, so maybe I need to sign up before I can really use it?

But I have another question -- does anyone know if I don't use Polyvore or the squares provided on the assignment sheet -- can I actually decorate a table and take a photo and submit that? There is an event décor company where I live (Ohio) and they said I could come anytime and "play". I told them I may need to actually decorate tables for my assignments, and they were fine with that.

Thoughts??? (Hoping I get answers pretty soon!)

Hey for Unit B, I used polyvore and Canva, I played around with it for a few days to understand it. A bit tricky at first, but now i love it!

I suppose you can. But i'd suggest also filling in the color blocks. Maybe chat with student support?

Hope this helps!

Student support said to use the squares provided or Polyvore. I just have a lot going on this week -- and for the next several weeks -- that I just didn't know if I can fit in learning Polyvore. I hate using the color schemes available in MS Word but I just did it and I guess it's okay, but I'm not thrilled with it. Maybe I'll revisit the assignment later before I submit this unit.

Well, I understand completely. I actually used canva for one or two of them, and polyvore for the rest because I couldn't figure it out at first. I hated using the MS blanks, they should really allow us to use any software that we are comfortable with. I didn't have any complaints.. They pretty much can be the same. >> but that's at your discretion! lol.

in terms of Polyvore, to see your "sets" you should just click your profile pic to go to your profile, and it has the tabs with "sets" "items" "collections" etc and you just click on your tab to see them. hope this helps!

There is a polyvore app that you can download, so for e.g when you are scrolling on pinterest and see something you like, you can hit the button and it uploads photos of your choice to your polyvore design collection. Sounds confusing but there is a tutorial.

let me know how you get on.

I was really hoping I could create some actual tablescapes, etc., and include photos in these assignments. My area has an event décor/rental company that said I could come anytime and play around with all of their tables and linens and centerpieces, etc., and take photos. I thought what fun that would be, as well as getting actual hands on experience with putting colors and designs together. I really wish the school would let us do that!!!!

Well I don't think there is any harm in that. I'd just do it, i'm sure your tutor would like it. But it's your decision. I suppose they have guidelines because they are a school. I think they idea is just to put colors and a few elements together. :) Don't have to go to far out.
