I noticed quite a few people in the novel forum, but I happen to be in the Romance Writing forum and no one has checked in yet. I am very excited about this course. I already checked out the first book and was impressed with the way the hero and heroine were explained. I can't wait to begin. Tonight, I will write my personal profile.
I've been in the class for a year now without much headway (thanks to health problems). I actually was looking for a Fantasy genre course but couldn't locate one. Since my writing generally has a romantic sub-plot I thought I'd give the Romance course a try. How far along is everyone? Any difficulties? I'm stuck on the outlining part. I've always been a "panster"; I don't know how the story is going to come out until I actually start writing it. Anyone else the same in that respect?

Assignment 7 wow! How quickly did your tutor respond to your assignments? Do they give a lot of feedback?
I reviewed future assignments and I like that fact we can submit chapters. I have four chapters to my book, but haven't been able to work on it for awhile. Looking forward to jumping into it in the New Year. Will have a laptop in the New Year so I think that will help.

Hi LovetoRead1963,
Yes, my tutor responds quickly and provides me with incredible feedback. I am really enjoying the course.
What assignment are you working on? What genre is your romance novel, contemporary, paranormal etc? Have you decided what publishers you plan to target? I really like the fact that they get us to tailor our novels to a publisher.
I have just completed the Novel Writing course and enjoyed it as it helped me to complete my novel. Now I am enrolled in the Romance Writing course and have just submitted Assignment #1 yesterday. Assignment #2 doesn't look that interesting as there are percentages to figure out. I only read books online now so what is asked of me will leave my screen all marked up... So far the tutor has not responded to me yet.
Hi, I am also in the Romance writing course. I have been at it for almost three years and have one more lesson to go. I really wanted to be further along with my novel, but life and problems get in the way, killing my inspiration. However, I have enjoyed the class and learned a lot.
Hi Amelia, nice to meet you. I have only just enrolled with the Romance Writing course and have completed up to Assignment six. I'm hoping to finish it before the end of this year. I'm happy to see that you only have the last assignment to complete. Good for you. What is your plot, if you don't mind me asking?
How are you enjoying the course so far? Do you know what your story is going to be about or perhaps you already have most of it done.
I don't mind you asking about my plot at all. It is about a couple who met on a cruise and had a relationship. The guy got arrested when the ship docked and the woman discovered that she was pregnant. Six years later, the guy comes back into her life, but he didn't know he had a child. He becomes stranded at her house when a huge snowstorm hits the area. She denies that her child is his and her brother goes to great lengths to make sure that he never finds out the truth. Of course at the end of the novel, she admits to the truth.
No, I don't have much of my story written just yet. It's about a poem I wrote from a painting I saw many years ago. The plot, so far, is about a professor of Greek mythology who meets a man who repairs boats. They meet in the same small town in the summer. She has had dreams of a woman on a rock who is beckoning to her husband, a captain of a schooner in the mid 1800's to come home but he dies at sea. The professor and the boat repairman are connected by this dream. I have just only written two paragraphs of it so far so there is no meat to it yet. Your story sounds interesting.
Hi Tasha and Amelia,
I just completed my personal profile. I'm very new to this and you guys are light years ahead of me in your novels. Both sound like something I'd pick uo to read. Good to meet you both.
HI Kate31. Nice to meet you. Like Tasha1054 said, I'm sure that you will like this course and learn so many things. Soon you will be writing your novel. Just enjoy the course and see where your characters lead you.
I am taking both the novel writing course and romance writing course and am working on different novels in each. I'm on assignment #12 of the novel writing one and am focusing on that for now. I'm on assignment #7 of the romance writing course and don't plan to complete the next one until I finish the novel writing one.
I'm really enjoying the courses!

Hi cc. Wow, that's ambition. I had thought about doing the novel writing course, but didn't. What is the difference between the novel writing course and the Romance course?

The Romance course focuses solely on the romance genre. The novel one can be used for any genre. There are some similarities in lessons on structure, dialogue etc. but the units are all different.
In the novel course I'm working on a YA novel which has a romance subplot, but is not a 100% romance.
Amelia wrote:I wondered if they were similar and knew that the novel one would not have the romance part in it. Who is the teacher of that course?
I think there are a number of tutors who teach it. I have Joan Hall Hovey. I think you can request the same tutor you have for romance or a new one. Who is your tutor?
