You can absolutely choose a character from a film! Just be sure that the character's makeup is something dramatic and not just makeup your every-day person would wear.
I also have a question about F2: I want to do Elphaba from "Wicked." She is described as having green skin because she is the Wicked Witch. Can I do my own representation of her or do I have to follow her description and go with green skin? I want to definitely incorporate shades of green, but I don't want to do the entire face green...
Absolutely! This is the time to get your creative juices flowing. Just be sure to add in the remarks section that you decided to do things a bit differently and explain why.
I decided to use Theodora/the Wicked Witch from the movie "Oz the Great and Powerful" instead of Elphaba from the musical "Wicked." Essentially, she is the same character, but with a different take in each story. My question is, are we supposed to do the dramatic emphasis with the eyes as shown in the video "Opera and Stage 'Character' Makeup"...I just want to clarify this. Also, on the makeup worksheet for F2, are we to follow the color code listed on the paper (ex: red: rouge; yellow: highlight, etc)or should we use the colors that we actually intend to apply?
How the makeup is done for this assignment is certainly up to you, however based on what I have seen of Theodora her makeup is very basic and something that someone could wear on an everyday basis. The point of the assignment is to do makeup that is more theatrical, and theatrical makeup is dramatic so that it can be seen by those who are sitting farther away, so choosing a simple look like Theodora's may not be what your tutor is expecting from you. In the end the decision is up to you, however I would suggest a character with a more dramatic look.
As for the worksheet, you can absolutely use the colors that you intend to apply. The worksheet provided is simply and example to give you an idea of what it would look like.
I had a question too can it be something like Halloween paint, like if I wanted to do sally from nightmare before xmas idk if that's part of stage makeup or special fx?
