Master Makeup Artistry here! I enrolled a few weeks ago, received my materials fairly quick and am working on Unit A. loving it so far!

My materials took about a week to arrive, but seemed like forever. Lol. Im currently working on unit B. The only thing that im finding hard is trying to find enough models that are close by. (i dont have transport and have a little 18 month old running around) But am wanting a different model each assignment to show variety and thats proving hard lol. Shame we werent all closer to each other, we could practice on one another :p

Yeah i know what thats like lol. I used my mum for the mature makeup application in unit B

But i asked someone on the live chat if you can do it on yourself and they said they would prefer you do it on someone else that way they can see you are getting used to applying it to someone else. But if you cant then its ok. So ive been trying to get some different people with skin types and colours but its proving really hard. Do you think they will mind if you use the same model in a few assignments coz i think thats what im going to have to do lol.

Hi There I just got my yesteday evening. Im now reading and doing the first assignment but not sure where to go and do it. LOl.. If you do it on your book or on the website? If its in the book how do we submit it on here? I dont have microsoft word its blocked. I ha ve wordpad or notepad wonder if thats the same and if we can submit work through that way?

Welcome all the newbees to the forum! To answer the assignment questions - you do them all and then you send them all in as a unit. You send them in online and when you go to MY ASSIGNMENTS at the top of the page on here, you will be able to submit them. There will then be a place for each assignment which you will just upload.

To the person who doesnt have word, mines the same but you should have an option to download microsoft word starter 2010 (thats what mines called anyways) and it will give you word and a couple of other programs i believe. Try going to the microsoft website im sure you will be able to download it free from there. I remember i tried to open microsoft when i first got my computer and it had an option to download it. And it was free. It took me to the website, so im sure you will be able to find it on the website.

To do your assignments on the computer you will need your resources CD that would have came in your materials. It will have answer sheets on them which you will fill out and then save to your computer as MM0000 and then the 0's would be your student number.

I hope this helps some what?! Im pretty sure this is what you lovely ladies were asking.

Oh also in reguards to not having many people to use as models, im the same way. I spoke to a tutor this morning and she said it wont matter if you use the same people as long as different looks and styles are used. She mentioned it would be a good idea to let your tutor know the situation of not having many models avaliable but it wont deduct points from your work.

If you have any other questions there is also a live chat feature on the homepage of the main website that you can ask tutors. They are really helpful and the chat feature works great. Only once have i not been answered and i just called them and got a response straight away.

It was for unit A and guess what, I GOT AN A!! Hope to get another A in unit B! so excited to actually start watching the vids and doing makeup for the assigments! YAY!

hey everyone! i started my course this summer and i'm on unit B. I actually love it and i also watch lots of you tube videos to learn all kinds on techniques. i love practicing on my friends and family. I have even asked the girls at my kids daycare to come for a demo. I have the airbrush and i'm trying to practice on all skin tones. Love this !!!! so fun.
I have a page with only 3 make up picks but I would love to have some feed back.

Hello raphyjo good luck I which you the best of the best in your new career. Lisa well I do know a couple off the I don't know if there you face.. but it wint hurt to try them I like them my self.. I try elf cosmetic so far good not the best but to start it wnt hurt you there really cheap you could try Google a search for some off them I order for the fist time nyx but I think they don't ship to where u are right St this point but check them out and find out .. good luck hun..

Hi Everyone!
I just signed up yesterday and thought I would get to know the system. My materials should arrive in about a week. For those of you looking for models, I emailed all my local friends to have "gatherings" at my house on some weekends and have had about 30 people say they are in for it--if they actually show up, well, we'll see. There is also a major university on a bus line near my house--and college kids love being pampered. I was thinking about posting in some dorms for models.

In my "regular" life I am an editor and write business plans, so if anyone has trouble with some of the business stuff, I will be glad to help.

Hi everyone! I am new to QC, I just recieved Unit A in the mail today and I'm excited to get started! I am hoping to get to know everyone and share my experience as well as learn from everyone else.

Check the COurse resources on your log in page you can get a bit of a jump there. Also PRACTICE Practice Practice on people... and yourself!!!

I signed up in October, completed my Unit A right before Thanksgiving and I am on Unit B. I have not started on Unit B even though I've had it since Nov.; I work full-time and I just completed my undergrad in Nov. so I am trying to regroup and reorganize some things. I should be getting started on Unit B next month.

Thanks, it was certainly a grueling and long awaited journey...

I majored in Criminal Justice/Human Service. I start grad school in May for Adult & Juvenile Leadership in Corrections. Starting my own intervention/outreach facility for at risk youth/youth offenders. I am going to incorporate my MUA skills as well to assist my female youth. That's awesome you have a wellness/life coach business as I am also interested in life coaching as well. These are all things I can utilize when it comes working with the youth.

You're right, there is always something that comes across our busy paths but we just have to keep rolling with the punches. I have been under the weather since the day before Xmas Eve and everyone everywhere is sick with the flu and or whatever the virus de jour is therefore the process of regrouping and reorganizing has been as slow as molasses

I am looking forward to Unit B and thanks for the encouragement, it is truly appreciated.

Now how fascinating is that. I studied Human Justice at the U of R in Saskatchewan Canada. Let me say "tough gig" I worked with people with disabilities for a decade essentially a employment specialist. Kudos to you as I can understand and certainly support this for you 100 and 10 % .

Thank you ever so greatly Shelly!!! I am always looking to network with those who have the same vision or at least feel as passionately as I do about our youth. I worked in juvenile corrections for 2yrs., I did transport support, pod officer, releasing & intake. That was the most rewarding job I've ever had!!! I had a non-job related injury that kept me on FMLA for a bit & since they were so short staffed & they could not intimidate me into returning to work (on crutches), they decided to let me go...being that this is an "At-will" employment state, it was ok for them to do that to me

. However, I know that God places us where He needs us to be for as long as He needs us there for a reason.

I will definitely get with you on this venture; I still have to put my business plan together but for the most part, I know what my mission and purpose for the program is.

I got my materials in the mail today and I am so happy!!! I couldn't wait to get started so I got everything together and have already completed 2 assignments in the first unit!!

A little bit about myself....My name is Samantha, though my friend's call me Sam

. I currently work full-time as an insurance agent for an independent agency. I love the people I work with and what I do, but I feel as if my true calling is makeup. I started making videos on YouTube about a year ago, and a few months ago, I started a blog up and made a facebook page. I do makeup tutorials, product reviews, giveaways, etc. and is part of the reason why I decided to make the leap and go in full force with makeup. My current job is great, however, they aren't paying me quite what I'm worth (as I guess a lot of jobs do), so I want to do something that I can make more money on the side and hopefully turn it into my full time career. My husband is disabled and can't work so I'm trying to do whatever it takes to make a better life for us and make things easier down the road. I am so excited to do this course and complete it!! I am on Unit B Assignment 4 and my computer will not show me the photos as examples on the resource CD because it is a windows based program. I've tried converting the file but still no picture there. I'm pretty sure I know what they want me to do, but seeing the picture would be nice to be able to see just to be sure. Is there anyone out there that could send me the picture in a jpg format or something that I can see it on a mac computer?

I am also on a Mac - I just downloaded the Course CD right onto my laptop, its available when you go to you're page in you're account. So I do not have to worry about the CD - also I am on Unit B of MMA and adore it! <3333

Dont use Bella or ur own name my names sucked he said i was promoting a makeup line... My t&f went ok and the brush test screwd me a little since the deffinitions throw u off from the book to the test

Hi I am MMA Student too currently on Unit B.. still procrastinating though since I have a 5 month old to look after as well. I hope I get enough models for this unit. I am wondering where I can find a mature model since I moved to the US from Philippines so my entire family is back home! I am scared to ask anyone specially that some people are sensitive with age.

When they say mature, what age group do you consider? Oldest people I know are in their 30s and I don't think they can already be considered mature in terms of makeup application.

Best is to start with 2-3 shades on each tone (3 warm and 3 cool tones) then just mix those to exactly match the shade that you need. This saves you money but can be a little time consuming. Eventually as you build your client pool, you would eventually figure out which shades that you commonly use and you can then start investing on those shades instead. then just have the darkest and lightest shades at hand to use for mixing to match the skin perfectly
