problem with uploading assignment

Hey guys! i am trying to upload an assignment but its saying that the extension is not allowed. does this mean i have to change the format?

To upload assignments it must be in word .doc format.
Go into assignments, click to browse to find you documents where you saved them, double click then hit the upload.
You can submit when all documents are completed in that unit.
